The Guardian

'Our Country, Our Voices' was a set of articles The Guardian published as a push for invigoration of indigenous languages. I was commissioned to make 4 animating gif's to go with the articles for the front page, showing a phrase in language turning to english and turning back again.
Byron Writers Festival

During the Byron Writers Festival 2016 & 2017 I made on-site animations while sitting in the audience responding to the writers talks. Uploading a quote from a writer and the animation it inspired on Instagram during the festival.
Music for projection

Ensemble Offspring Music video

Avialae - composed by Cassie To, Performed by Ensemble Offspring, film by Rowena Crowe. Avialae was a serendipitous project for me. For some time I had been collecting children’s drawings of birds for a project that had been brewing in my mind. When Ensemble Offspring approached me about the Offspring Bites project I was immediately drawn to Cassie To’s Avialae not knowing her composition was concerned with the disappearance of bird song after species extinction. Discovering her ideas behind the composition I came to interpret it as a kind of sonic witness.
If We Were Together

A mother struggles with loneliness while her husband is away in the army. She has got something to ask him and needs courage to say what it is. If We Were Together is the second film in the found sound series called What Love Sounded Like and had it’s world premiere at International Film Festival Rotterdam in January 2014.
Letter Tape

Letter Tape a short animation I made about a love letter my mother recorded for my father in London in 1957. Letter Tape has screened internationally including DOK Leipzig, Sydney Film Festival, The Edinburgh International Film Festival and East End Film Festival London.
Artist in residence Rotterdam

Dot and The Tyrannosaurus was an installation using interactive old school hand cranked animation machines and was the result of a residency at Kaus Australis. It was shown at the ‘Route Du Nord 10th anniversary’ exhibition in Rotterdam in 2015.
Bloody Mary

Bloody Mary was a looped animation projection using video mapping software commissioned during my MA animation at St Joost by the Huis Voor Beeldcultuur. The animation team are Rowena Crowe, Armando Goedgedrag and Raimke Groothuizen.
Leerlooien

Leerlooien is a short animation commissioned by the art organisation BKKC in The Netherlands for an app on a land art walking and cycling route. I was inspired by old machines I found on a visit to the leather museum in Waalwijk. The sound track is made by actual recordings of these machines.
Mien van Iersal

Mien van Iersal is a short animation based on interviews with people who have first hand accounts of the WWII. This film has screened at the 'Bevrijdingsfestival' held to commemorate the liberation of The Netherlands. Produced by Stichting Beeldtijd.
